digHuman Salerno 25 Edition

Exploring new ways to communicate a Historic Cultural Legacy

Host: University of Salerno
Collaborating organisation: Virtual Museum of the Scuola Medica Salernitana
Edition: 01

The first edition of digHuman brought together students from Italy, Portugal and Spain for an interdisciplinary exploration of Digital Humanities and cultural heritage.

Following the online phase of the programme, participants travelled to Salerno for an intensive week of project development and collaborative work.

The Challenge

Bringing the Scuola Medica Salernitana to new audiences

The project focused on the Virtual Museum of the Scuola Medica Salernitana. Student teams were challenged to develop communication strategies capable of increasing awareness of this important cultural heritage among broader European and international audiences. The challenge required participants to combine historical sensitivity, audience analysis, communication strategy, project planning and digital creativity.

Teams developed coordinated communication concepts that could include:

  • visual identity proposals;
  • promotional roll-up designs
  • social media content
  • slogans and storytelling concepts
  • short video ideas
    multimedia communication strategies

Digital and generative AI tools supported ideation and prototyping, while students were expected to verify outputs and make critical decisions concerning historical accuracy, tone, audience and visual coherence.
